a_show. Austrian architecture in the 20th and 21st centuries
educational programme for ages 6 to 19
duration: 2 hours
This workshop provides young people with an opportunity to gain insight into the architecture history of Austria, motivated by a shared experience. With its different kinds of information — photographs, film footage, press cuttings, literature and models — 'a_show' provides a range of topical subjects to fuel discussion. The educational programme is geared towards expanding participants' vocabulary, discussing terminology together and active dialogue. Using practical exercises and model making, young people can engage with the themes of architecture, e.g. housing, and consolidate their new vocabulary. Participants experience a playful approach to the German language while engaging with the significance of architecture in everyday life.
The Vienna Ring Road
educational programme for ages 6 to 19
duration: 2 hours
The aim of the tour is for participants to get to know the city, exchange ideas and be open to new subject matter, come closer to and understand one another, resolve misunderstandings and overcome thresholds.
Together we decode the architecture of Historicism, and ask questions about the function of the Ring Road at the time it was built and its use today. We visit the visitor centre in Parliament, look into the University and the Postal Savings Bank, and engage with relevant topics in exercises to expand the participants' vocabulary.
Many young people in Vienna only know the Ring Road from having driven along it, we now take a closer look at it and attempt to show that this public space is also theirs.
Reservations required for workshop participation:: 01-522 31 15 or office@azw.at
