A cooperation by the Az W with wonderland — platform for european architecture, frame[o]ut and the MuseumsQuartier Wien
The Architektur.Film.Sommer festival in the Architekturzentrum Wien courtyard of the Museumsquartier presents, for the third time in a row, films from all over the world about architecture, the city and the built environment. The title of this year's Festival Programme is Shelter, Housing and the Formation of Cities, showcasing a selection of short films, essay films and documentaries from almost 100 international submissions.
The programme ranges from the city straight off the drafting table via the significance of existing communities and the impact on these of large-scale planned development, to the appropriation of living space by marginalised communities and the traces of time inscribed on our environment. What does it mean to design housing and urbanity communally? What are the challenges intrinsic to top-down planning for the residents of a town or city?
Visitors and passers-by are invited to linger outdoors, to watch and discuss the the films with their makers, who are present at the event.
