Az W Photo Award The Az W Photo Award was launched in 2009 under the motto 'Architecture and Urbanism in Southeast Europe' as part of the year's focus on the Balkans. Both the broad interest and, in particular, the astonishingly high quality of the entries convinced the jury at the Az W to develop the prize further. THE THEME 2010: PUBLIC SPACE "Passers-by who wonder what I'm doing definitely don't realise that I find them just as puzzling." Wilhelm Genanzino The theme of this year's Az W Photo Award ties in closely with the autumn exhibition 'Platz da! / Make Space! European Urban Public Space' (14.10.10 – 31.01.11). To mark the 10th jubilee of the European Prize for Urban Public Space the Az W is devoting its attention to public space. THE EXHIBITION as part of Eyes On – Month of Photography Vienna Shortlisted entries and the winning photographs go on show for two weeks in Halle F3 at the Architekturzentrum Wien as part of Eyes On – Month of Photography Vienna. The opening is on Wednesday 03.11.2010 at 7pm. ENTER + WIN: > 1 night for two people with culinary delights at the Loisium Hotel, Langenlois > 1 night for two people at the new Uniqua hotel building by Jean Nouvel, Taborstrasse/1020 Vienna > as well as catalogues and season tickets (1 year) for the Az W THE JURY The jury, consisting of experts and staff of the Architekturzentrum Wien, compiles a shortlist of 10 names selected from all of the entries. The winners will be notified by email following the convening of the jury. Deadline for entries: Wednesday, 15 September 2010 Jury convenes on: Wednesday, 22 September 2010 Exhibition opening: Friday, 5 November 2010 Exhibition duration: 6–15.11.2010 ENTRY CONDITIONS All submissions qualify for entry that reach the Architecture Wien on CD-ROM or USB stick no later than 15 September 2010. Entries may also be submitted by FTP upload. The documents must be bundled in one folder. This folder should be named: 'FamilyName_FirstName' FTP server details: server: ftp.azw.at username (participant in the competition): photoupload password: photoazw enquiries: photo@azw.at HOW TO ENTER • Max. 3 photographs per entry: photographs may be submitted with individual motifs or as a series • Important document name for photographs: 'FamilyName_FirstName.jpg'; for more than one photograph: 'FamilyName_FirstName_1.jpg', 'FamilyName_FirstName_2.jpg' etc. • File restriction: JPG, TIFF • Minimum size per photograph: 1 MB • Include 1 text document with the following details: o first name and family name o Email address o postal address o telephone number o for more than one photo: please state whether you have included individual motifs or a series o print size: please state the size that your image/s should be printed (individual motifs or series), e.g. 1:1 or smaller (format in cm at XX dpi) o statement on the photograph/series o date and location of (each) photograph • Important document name for the text: 'FamilyName_FirstName.doc' or 'FamilyName_FirstName.rtf' Submissions may only be made by the author/s of the work concerned. The person/s submitting work accepts/accept full liability should the rights of third parties be infringed. Submissions cannot be returned, and effectively become the property of the organisers on receipt. In making a submission the sender consents to publication of the image/s concerned in a context of the exhibition and/or in a context of the focus on Public Space (online and for a range of printed matter). |
