A REVIEW OF 2014 AND A PREVIEW OF 2015
In 2014 once again numerous outstanding projects and exhibitions, a number of them made in collaboration with strong partners, were successfully carried out. In the past year a total of 13 exhibitions, 2 of them travelling exhibitions, were shown. As well as these exhibitions the Az W also organised 29 events and special architecture education programs for a wide variety of target groups. The Az W educational team gave more than 450 guided tours and workshops. Additionally, 86 tours in the Vienna area were organised especially for national and international groups of experts and delegations and as part of supporting programmes and cooperative ventures. In 2015 the Architekturzentrum Wien will again be open to visitors 365 days of the year and will continue to offer numerous exhibitions, a series of specially arranged events, and a comprehensive educational programme. In spring/summer the Architekturzentrum Wien will devote itself to a presentation of building activity in Vienna during the Nazi era in a major exhibition accompanied by an extensive supporting programme. From 2015 the Architekturzentrum Wien offers regular excursions on fixed dates in a new format, under the title “Az W on Site.

THE COLLECTION OF THE AZ W: NEW ACCESSIONS
The Architekturzentrum Wien is the sole institution in Austria that, in a specifically focussed way, preserves and collects the legacy of architecture in Austria since 1945. Over the past decade the collection of the Az W has grown continuously. In 2014 the new accessions to the collection in the form of the architectural estates of architects living or deceased came from: Günther Domenig, Heinz Karbus, Ferdinand Kitt, Franz Klimscha, Franz E. Kneissl, Peter Payer and Heinz Tesar. The architectural estate of one Austria’s most influential architecture personalities, Roland Rainer, will be incorporated in the Az W collection this year. The Az W also looks forward to additions to the collection from Wolfdietrich Ziesel and the pair of Graz architects, Szyszkowitz - Kowalski. Negotiations for taking over the extensive photograph archive of Margherita Spiluttini, one of Austria’s best known architecture photographers, are approaching completion.

Az W BOARD: NEW PRESIDENT
In a period of over 20 years the Architekturzentrum Wien has developed from a small, ambitious institution to an established museum that is active worldwide and is today Austria’s only architecture museum. Since the founding of the non-profit association in 1993 up to the present Dr. Hannes Pflaum, as President of the Board, has accompanied and aided the development and growth of the Architekturzentrum Wien. Now, after 21 years of voluntary activity, he is handing over this responsible work to his successor, Dr. Hannes Swoboda, one of the founding fathers of the Architekturzentrum Wien. As the new President of the Board he will guide the Architekturzentrum Wien towards further success in the future and will continue the established direction with a view of the development of the city and of international architecture, while opening up new economic and content-related perspectives.
