Gold Tour 1: The Gold Trail

In cooperation with radio Ö1, the Az W is offering a guided tour of four enthralling projects from its world class collection: from the Ebendorferstrasse chapel by Ottokar Uhl past the Austrian Parliament rebuilt by Fellerer & Wörle and the Herrengasse high-rise by Theiss & Jaksch to the Volksgarten Pavillion by Oswald Haerdtl.

Gold Tour 2: House Calls

As part of the focus on the collection, the Az W visits the homes of Hans Puchhammer and Gertrude Uhl in the Mauerbergsiedlung, which is a pioneering achievement in high-density low-rise building by Roland Rainer. Following this visit, Hans Puchhammer and Gunther Wawrik accompany the group to a residence that they have designed themselves. The house’s floor plan developed from the topography of its slopeside position.

Gold Tour 3: The Depot
Location: Architekturzentrum Wien - Shop

The Az W Depot is housed in a former metal factory in Möllersdorf. This is where the architectural heritage of Austria is stored in the form of thousands of plans, models and documents. The guided tour provides a unique insight into the ‘Az W Gold’. The route to the depot runs past two insiders’ tips: Möllersdorf parish church by Carl Auböck, and the Traiskirchen protestant nchurch by Theiss & Jaksch.

Gold Tour 4: The Highlights

The guided tour provides a unique opportunity to experience the highlights of the Az W Collection first-hand, on location. The tour leads to milestones in the architectural history of Vienna after 1945: Kinkplatz school by Helmut Richter, Baumgartner Spitz Pastoral Center* by Johann Georg Gsteu, Küniglberg ORF Centre by Roland Rainer, Am Schöpfwerk by Viktor Hufnagl, Erich Bauer, Leo Parenzan, Joachim Peters, Michael Pribitzer, Fritz Watzlawek, Wolfgang and Traude WindbrechtingerSalvatorkirche church by Johannes Spalt, and Raum Zita Kern* by Artec Architekten.
