Az W Photo Award 2014
Think Global, Build Social! Architectures for a Better World

2014 marks the 4th round of the Az W Photo Award. This time the motto is “Think Global, Build Social! Architectures for a Better World”.

We turn the spotlight on alternative, socially committed solutions. Send us your photo or series of photos of a better world! From 15.03.2014 the exhibition “Think Global, Build Social! Architectures for a Better World” in the Architekturzentrum Wien will offer ideas and suggestions about the theme. Conditions for participation and entry forms can be found at: www.azw.at/photoaward2014

Deadline for entries: Monday, 15.09.2014

In autumn a jury will select a shortlist and three prizewinners from all the photographs submitted.
In the framework of the “Photography Month” the shortlisted projects and prizewinners will be presented in
Hall F3 from 06.11. to 24.11.2014.
Exhibition opening: Wed, 05.11.2014, 7 pm.

JOIN IN AND WIN:
1st prize: overnight stay in the Looshaus am Kreuzberg, Payerbach
2nd prize: ship journey for 2 persons in Vienna or the Wachau
with buffet and live music, on the DDSG Blue Danube
3rd prize: 6-bottle box of Blaufränkisch red wine from Weninger
as well as annual tickets for the Az W and Az W catalogues


ENTRY CONDITIONS
Submissions must arrive at the Architekturzentrum Wien by 15 September 2014 to qualify for entry. The submission is free of charge.

ENTRY FORM
• Max. 3 photographs may be submitted per person. Images may be submitted as individual motifs or as a series. Please mark the appropriate field on the text document for a series, if applicable.

• The documents must be placed in one folder
folder name: "Surname_FirstName"

• document name for photographs: "Surname_FirstName"
in the case of submissions consisting more than one photograph: Surname_FirstName_1.jpg, Surname_FirstName_2.jpg ...

• accepted formats: JPG, TIFF (only!)

• minimum size per photograph: 1 MB. Submissions smaller than this minimum size do not qualify for entry.

• 1 text document containing the following:
o first name and surname
o Email address
o postal address
o telephone number
o If more than one photograph is submitted: please indicate whether the images are a series or of individual motifs
o print format: please provide the size to be printed (as individual motifs or as a series), e.g. 1:1 or reduced in size (measurements in cm)
o a statement on the photograph or series of images
o date and location of exposure

• IMPORTANT: text document name: Surname_FirstName.doc

The sender confirms that he or she is the author of any and all photographs submitted. The sender bears full culpability in the case of third party rights infringements. The sender agrees that all submissions become the property of the competition's organisers on receipt. The jury retains the right to award prizes to photographs within a series without consulting the photographer concerned.
Furthermore, the sender consents to the publication of all and any photographs submitted in the context of the competition or the subject matter (online, printed matter, exhibition display).

The Az W will decide which materials to use in the printing and exhibition of the photographs.

EXHIBTION
The winning photographs will be on display for two weeks in an exhibition to be held in November in Halle F3 at the Architekturzentrum Wien.
The opening reception for the exhibition is on Wednesday 05.11.2014 at 7pm.
