Otto Wagner Städtebaupreis 2004
The Fourth Otto Wagner Städtebaupreis

The Architekturzentrum Wien is accepting applications for the Otto Wagner Städtebaupreis, held in collaboration with the Postsparkasse bank for the fourth time. The aim is to promote and encourage state of the art urban development as well as its discussion and presentation in Austria.

Aim and Theme
The Otto Wagner Städtebaupreis 2004 is to be awarded to an urban development project that address the problems facing urban development in a constantly changing society with a new and offensive approach. The project should address the basic issue of the redefinition of urban space, as well as showing consideration for the conception, design and development of areas where various functions and lifestyles are brought together. The urban development should form a framework for life in the future by playing a mediating role and increasing density.

Ernst Beneder, architect, winner of the Otto Wagner Städtebaupreis 2001
Stephan Koren, Managing Director of the Postsparkasse bank
Dietmar Steiner, Director of the Architekturzentrum Wien
The jury is convening in early October 2004.

The Award and the Prize-Giving Ceremony
A total of EUR 15,000.- is to be awarded. Only the jury (see above) has the right to decide who is to receive the award. The jury's decision is final and binding. The winning project and other running-up projects are to be presented in an exhibition in the banking hall of the Postsparkasse. The official award ceremony is to be held as part of the opening on 2 November 2004.
