born in Innsbruck in 1951. Studied architecture at the TU Innsbruck. Assistant Professor at the Institute of Building Engineering at the same university. Set up his own office in Innsbruck in 1988.

Structuring the Void He has materialized no more than five or six small-scale constructions since 1988. Virtually coming from nowhere, however, and in contrast with the local atmosphere, these buildings are included among theprime pioneering achievements in western Austria. They are filigree, bodiless forms, lightweight, supple pavilions, stimulating an unencumbered and self-assured utilization. They refrain from setting a strong gesture against the dominance displayed by the mountainous landscape. Their response to the 'call of the mountains' consists in ingenious sensitive constructions, meeting the vertical pathos of the valley's omnipresent flanks and rocky walls with the unimpeded relaxed horizontality of modern life.
