A cooperation by The Austrian Filmmuseum, Architekturzentrum Wien and Verein Neunerhaus Location Hagenmüllergasse/ Riedelgasse, as part of Hunger auf Kunst und Kultur
Various forms of documentary film were produced in four different blocks, in collaboration with the Film Museum. The focus was on a portrait documentary and the depiction of a single day on film. This is flanked by the screening of a full-length film of relevance to the subject matter. Together with the Az W, the routes, destination points and haunts of homeless people are mapped-out. The narratives provide a very personal map and reflect their experience of the city. The aim is for the residents of Neunerhaus to produce a video about their own life during the course of a single day.
Social Map / Map of Homelessness
The primary concern was to recount a typical day for a group of vagrants and to document where they went and their regular haunts. Apart from the concrete locations, the routes are also key. Sketching the — for some — daily routes, creates an awareness of impressions. All of these 'stories' combine to produce a very personal map, reflect the experience of the city, and form the beginning of the storyboard for a film about urban vagrancy.
